Sky's the limit to secure best view

12 April 2012

A TV battle to secure the best view of the Olympics has escalated with Sky television poised to sign a six-figure deal to occupy the Stratford City shopping mall.

The Murdoch-owned network is determined to punch above its weight in London 2012 coverage even though the Olympic rights belong to the BBC.

Sky presenters, including Georgie Thompson, below, will broadcast from the rooftop of the vast shopping mall which forms the eastern perimeter of the Olympic Park and commands prime views of the Olympic stadium and the aquatics centre - which will provide the backdrop for Sky sports and news.

Hiring the location could cost £100,000.
