Sky presenter appeals over sack

12 April 2012

Frank Partridge, the Sky News presenter sacked after slapping colleague Kay Burley, is to appeal against his dismissal.

Partridge, who co-hosted Sky News's Live at Five bulletin with Burley, was dismissed before Christmas after admitting he hit her.

The pair, who were romantically linked in the past, clashed about their on-air roles after a bulletin. Partridge was suspended before being hauled up before a disciplinary panel, but has asked for an appeal, believing he was unfairly dismissed. It will be heard in the next two weeks.

Staff at Sky News sympathise with Partridge, who is a popular figure, but believe he could not continue in his role after hitting a colleague.
