Shoreditch Tech Hub ‘to rival Silicon Valley’

12 April 2012

Plans to turn part of Shoreditch into a hi-tech complex to rival Silicon Valley have been announced.

To be called Tech Hub, the plans focus on a building that will house about 140 people developing small internet start-up firms.

The area has already been dubbed "silicon roundabout" for the number of internet firms in the area. However, Tech Hub hopes to make it easier for smaller firms to rent office space and to meet investors and advisers.

"We want to give entrepreneurs a real sense of community, and take the best bits of Silicon Valley and bring them here," said Elizabeth Varley, who is running the project.

The rent will be subsidised by technology firms.
