Service for baby killed by lamp post

12 April 2012

A service in memory of a baby who died after being struck by a falling lamp post is to be held in west London tomorrow.

The service for Tommy Hollis will be held at 11am at Christ Church in Turnham Green, Chiswick — close to where the accident happened.

He died one day before his first birthday when he was hit by the lamp post outside Chiswick Town Hall.

Tommy was asleep in his pushchair at a zebra crossing when the lamp post fell on his pram and broke it in two on 23 February. He died from injuries two days later.

His parents, Chris and Kate, have set up a memorial fund to raise money for sick, underprivileged and orphaned children.

They said: "Tommy was a happy, smiley boy who spread joy to everyone he met and we would like to do something in his honour to spread the joy he gave us."

A police and council investigation into the accident is under way.
