Selfridges has apologised after accidentally using a likeness of comedy character Frank Sidebottom in a Christmas window display.

Sidebottom was created by Chris Sievey who died in June of cancer, aged 54. Mr Sievey's partner Gemma Wood said she had received calls from fans who were "very upset" by the display.

A Selfridges spokesman said: "We sincerely apologise if this has offended anyone." He said £10,000 had been offered to Mr Sievey's estate and his work would be credited.
