Schoolboy stabbed eight times in iPhone robbery at bus station

12 April 2012

A boy gasped "I don't want to die" after being stabbed by a gang of youths trying to steal his iPhone, witnesses claimed today.

The 14-year-old was left in a pool of blood at Hammersmith bus station yesterday afternoon after being knifed repeatedly. Witnesses said the boy, named online as "Shankai", had his school uniform cut away as paramedics worked to save him.

The Richmond Park Academy pupil was taken to hospital by air ambulance where his condition was today described as "serious". One passer-by, who helped comfort the teenager, said he saw four people sprinting away. "I thought he (Shankai) was drunk. I asked him if he was all right, and he said he had been stabbed. Then he fell down on the floor. His eyes were open and he was saying 'I'm going to die, I can't see anything'.

"I put my jumper underneath his head and told him to relax. He was worrying about his iPhone, saying 'Have you got my iPhone?'

"He got stabbed eight times. When the ambulance came they cut his shirt off and a few of the stab wounds were in his lungs. Then he went unconscious."

Writing on a community forum, a blogger claiming to be the teenager's brother said they were praying he would survive. He wrote: "Shankai Is My Baby Brother, I Was There When It Happened So Before You People Go Assuming He Aint Dead. I'm With Him Right Now In Charing Cross Hospital And He's Unconscious. To Tell The Truth To You People We Don't Know If He's Gonna Make It, He's That Bad. But Please Everyone Pray That Hes Going To Get Through This. I Love You Shankai."

A spokesman for the school said: "We are shocked and saddened at the news that a 14-year-old student was attacked in Hammersmith yesterday after school. Our thoughts and prayers are very much with him and his family and friends at this critical time." No one has been arrested in connection with the attack.
