School trips forced off curriculum

Schools will stop taking children on trips unless teachers are given immunity from prosecution when accidents happen, a union warns today.

The Association of Teachers and Lecturers demands the Government create a "no-fault compensation scheme" for parents to claim damages without ruining a teacher's career in a court case.

The Government insists that if they prepare properly no teacher need fear prosecution.

The NASUWT union advises members not to run school trips because of the risk of being sued if anything goes wrong.
