Ryanair set for 10% fares rise

FARES at Ryanair are set to rise by up to 10% after a European Commission ruling on the allegedly illegal subsidies the airline receives from Belgium's Charleroi airport.

In the ruling, due tomorrow, Ryanair is expected to be fined millions of euros for receiving payments to fly to Charleroi. Commission sources said the case is likely to lead to fare rises of 6% to 10%.
