£610m Cisco spots green shoots

NETWORKING giant Cisco Systems today said it could see the green shoots of recovery as it reported a 27% rise in quarterly net profit to $982m (£610m).

The company, the world's largest maker of networking equipment for steering traffic on the internet, is considered a bellwether of corporate technology spending.

Chief executive John Chambers said: 'We are seeing some very early indications that the economic recovery may be slowly gaining momentum.'
