Prince William backs charity sleep-out stars

12 April 2012

Prince William has given his backing to City bosses and celebrities who are sleeping rough to raise money for a homeless charity.

He has praised those taking part and encouraged more people to take to the streets tomorrow to raise funds for Centrepoint.

Prince William, the charity's patron, said: "The more people who understand the devastation inflicted on young lives by homelessness, the more Centrepoint can do to support those same young people. Young men and women are driven to homelessness for all sorts of reasons, and the support that Centrepoint offers can be life-saving and life-changing."

A total of 500 people have signed up including actress Niamh Cusack, Loose Women host Lisa Maxwell, former Blue Peter presenter Zoe Salmon and employees from Chartered Bank, King Sturge and property firm Drivers Jonas.

Each person taking part in Sleep Out, which is supported by the Standard, at Old Spitalfields Market is expected to raise at least £500.
