Police smash prostitution gang

13 April 2012

A prostitution ring which employed smuggled Lithuanian women has been smashed by police.

Three men and one woman will appear at Bow Street Magistrates' Court tomorrow on trafficking and controlling prostitution charges, Scotland Yard said.

It is understood that at least seven women were trafficked out of Lithuania to work as prostitutes for the group in north London.

Police arrested Vullnet Ismailaj, 27, and female companion Egle Samaviciute, 22, both unemployed, after a swoop on their residence in Whittington Road, north London, on October 11.

Ismailaj, the alleged ringleader of the group, faces 11 of the group's total of 16 charges.

Sokol Qata, 20, a cleaner, of Willingdon Road, north London, and Lorenc Roci, 22, whose occupation is unknown, of Fonthill Road, Finsbury Park, north London, were arrested and charged later that month.
