Police hunt two men over indecent assault on teenager as she travelled home from festival
Police are hunting for two men who indecently assaulted a teenage girl as she made her way home from a festival.
British Transport Police (BTP) officers have released CCTV images of two men they want to trace, after the 17-year-old reveller was attacked following a day at a festival in Southend.
The incident happened at Chalkwell station on Saturday, July 11, the day of the popular Village Green festival at nearby Chalkwell Park.
The girl went into the station just after 5pm and as she walked down the steps to the platforms, two men engaged her in conversation, police said.
They made explicit comments to the girl before one of them touched her inappropriately.
The girl managed to escape from the men, who are then believed to have boarded a London-bound train.
"If you know who they are, or witnessed the incident and have yet to come forward, please get in touch with BTP or Crimestoppers, as soon as possible.
“This was a frightening and upsetting experience for the victim and she has been left badly shaken by what happened. We take all reports of sexual offences very seriously and are doing all we can to catch those responsible.”
