Pepsi moves back to Iraq

Pepsi has announced it will resume producing soft drinks in Iraq within months.

The drinks company has signed an agreement with Iraq's largest bottler, Baghdad Soft Drinks, to make and distribute Pepsi and 7-Up by the end of June.

Other news from Iraq:

Six mortar rounds were fired at Camp Seitz as troops from the Third Corps Support Command relaxed near their living quarters.

The camp is located in the socalled Sunni triangle, a centre for resistance against the US military presence in Iraq.

  • The Ministry of Defence today launched an investigation after a British soldier died on a firing range near Basra. The soldier, who has not been named, is believed to be Scottish. The MoD described his death as "a tragic incident on a training range".
  • The ministry has announced that about 1,100 reservists are to be called up in April for six months' service in Iraq.
