Pensioner admits smuggling £80,000 cocaine

A 76-year-old man pleaded guilty today to smuggling £80,000-worth of cocaine into Britain.

Derek Orton was arrested yesterday at Heathrow after flying in from Nairobi. Two kilos of cocaine, with a street value of £80,000, was found in his baggage.

Orton, who was born in Essex but lives in Kampala, Uganda, pleaded guilty at Uxbridge magistrates' court to a charge of attempting to import a Class A drug.

He is due before Isleworth crown court on 25 March for sentencing.
