Parents issue plea for bone marrow donor to save son

Seriously ill: Luka Stroh
Tony Bassett12 April 2012

The parents of a four-year-old boy with leukaemia have appealed for a bone marrow donor to help save his life.

Luka Stroh was first diagnosed with
soft tissue sarcoma, a form of cancer,
last summer. But after having chemotherapy, he developed acute myeloid leukaemia and now requires a bone marrow transplant urgently.

Tests have shown his siblings, aged six, nine and 11, would not be suitable matches. Parents Karsten, 44, and Stefanie, 42, who are from Germany but now live with their children in East Sheen, are appealing for donors.

Luka is in isolation in the Harley Street Clinic. A donor recruitment event with the Anthony Nolan charity will be held at the German School in Petersham Road, Richmond, from 10am to 2pm on Saturday.
