Palace parties ban breaches my human rights says prince

Row: John Zylinski recreated his family's neo-classical Polish palace in Ealing
12 April 2012

A Polish prince who built a replica in Ealing of his family palace has vowed to fight a legal ruling which bans him from hiring it out as a venue for weddings, parties and charity events.

John Zylinski recreated the neo-classical Louis XVI house his family owned in Gozdowo which was destroyed by communists during the Second World War.

It was used to film an episode of ITV's Miss Marple and for a photo shoot for Rihanna. But last year more than 400 people complained to Ealing council about noise and traffic problems linked to the commercial use and a planning enforcement notice was served on Mr Zylinski alleging breach of use of the site and citing a detrimental impact on traffic.

A government planning inspector upheld the notice in March. Now a High Court judge has backed that decision and refused property developer Mr Zylinski permission for a full court hearing.

Mr Zylinski said: "The level of disruption has been completely exaggerated. If needs be I will take this to the European Court of Human Rights."
