Blooming great: Orlando's the best
13 April 2012

He's only 27 but Orlando Bloom has been voted Britain's sexiest actor.

The survey, carried out by Sky Movies, contains a few surprise faces and reveals that fresh faced youth isn't everyone's idea of sex appeal.

Bloom's 45-year-old Troy co-star Sean Bean bags second place in the top ten, while Nil by Mouth's Ray Winstone, 47, is seventh.

In Greek epic Troy, Bloom plays Paris, who woos the woman whose legendary beauty launches a thousand ships.

Now he's topped the survey - showing he's got looks good enough to attract Helen of Troy.

Bloom's meteoric rise to fame came after he was cast as Legolas in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, while still at drama school.

He went from JRR Tolkien to Pirates of the Caribbean, and now stars with Brad Pitt in this summer's blockbuster Troy.

Recently Bloom won a place on People magazine's 50 Most Beautiful list but unfortunately, for his fans, the actor, who grew up in Canterbury, Kent, is dating rising young Hollywood actress Kate Bosworth.

The survey is good news for a star who says he was quite "chubby as a kid" and acts "because of the women".

"I don't care much about the money," he recently revealed. "Frankly, if I get the chance to kiss someone in a film, they wouldn't need to pay me at all."
Love Actually star Hugh Grant, 43, comes third in the poll while Trainspotting's Ewan McGregor is fourth.

McGregor pips Jude Law, 31, who now dates Sienna Miller, into fifth place, followed new Batman star Christian Bale.

McGregor's Trainspotting co-star Jonny Lee Miller comes eighth, followed by Snatch actor Jason Statham, and 33-year-old Master and Commander star Paul Bettany in tenth place.

A Sky Movies spokesman said: "It's usually the likes of Jude Law and Ewan McGregor who are voted Britain's sexiest actors.

"But it seems that Orlando Bloom's star is rising. He's been in some big films like Troy and Pirates of the Caribbean recently and appeals to all generations."
The poll was conducted on Skymovies.com.
