Oh dear: no name for the phantom tweeter

A mystery tweeter who has been spilling the beans on some of the West End's biggest musical shows has refused to reveal his or her identity amid mounting speculation that it could be Sir Cameron Mackintosh.

Many in the West End are convinced that the person behind @westendproducer is Sir Cameron, responsible for shows such as Phantom of The Opera and Les Miserables, after several mentions of his forthcoming productions.

The tweets included: "My PA just threatened to walk out unless I give her a pay rise. I promised her an expensive Christmas present. The 25th Phantom dvd, dears"; "Just been chatting to a busker who was in a show of mine last year. His weekly busking wage is five times the amount I used to pay him, dear" and: "Good to see one of my shows coming along nicely - but I think the choreographer thinks he's doing a play. More jazz hands, dear. #dear".

Asked by the Evening Standard to reveal himself the prankster replied: "If I told you that, I'd have to kill you, dear. #dear."
