Nurse’s gadget could ease NHS cash squeeze

Ingenious: Sue Wood with the device which helps get every last drop out of tubes

A NURSE at The Royal Free Hospital has invented a device which could save the NHS tens of thousands of pounds.

Sue Wood, 45, has invested £30,000 of her own money to develop a device that squeezes every drop of contents from a tube.

She was inspired after watching patients struggling with creams and tubes and having to throw so much away. With the help of her husband William and his friend Jonathan Jones she created a piston-like gadget that can be put into containers to push every last drop of contents out of a tube.

They have patented the invention and now need investment to mass-produce it.

Mrs Wood, of Kew, appeared on This Morning in September in a "Mumtrepreneur" contest. The mother-of-two is now considering going on Dragons' Den. She said: "I would be so proud to have changed something to make life easier."
