Murder hunt after stabbing

13 April 2012

A murder inquiry is underway after a man was stabbed to death in a quiet Brixton street in the early hours of this morning.

The man, who was black and believed to be in his 20s, was attacked in Chaucer Road just after midnight. He was rushed to King's College hospital but was dead on arrival.

A police spokesman said: "Police were called at 12.10am by a member of the public to what is believed to be a serious assault on the corner of Chaucer Road and Railton Road.

"Police found a man, believed to be in his mid 20s, who had been seriously assaulted. He was taken to Kings College Hospital but was pronounced dead.

"We are keeping an open mind as to the motive at this stage."

Anyone with information is asked to call the incident room on 0208 247 4567, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

A second man was found with minor shoulder injuries on adjoining Railton Road but police do not believe the two incidents are linked.
