Morrison gets down to work

MORRISON Supermarkets has already got down to work on its Safeway bid and shareholders should expect an offer within weeks.

Boss Sir Ken Morrison is likely to call Safeway chairman David Webster this week to renew their relationship and bicker over the bid price.

A cash sweetener could take the form of a special dividend once Safeway stores have been sold.
