He was shot twice during a popular Saturday night disco. Police said the attack took place close to the entrance but his body was found on the ice.

It is believed he ran there through panicking crowds in a bid to escape his killer after up to three shots were fired. Six male youths and one 18-year-old man remain in police custody.

According to the order of service, mourners sang The Lord Is My Shepherd and Abide With Me.

Those close to the victim, who was known as Andre, shared their memories. The rink was brightly lit but remained cordoned off as bouquets were left outside.

Superintendent Gary Richardson, leading the investigation, appealed for witnesses and said there were up to 300 young people at the rink when the shooting took place at about 11pm.

He added that the gunman was described by witnesses as black and wearing dark clothing.
