Mars rover back after break down

NASA has confirmed its Mars rover Spirit is up and running 10 days after it broke down. With the probe's twin Opportunity rolling onto Martian soil yesterday, it means two mobile probes are exploring another planet together for the first time ever.

Scientists solved Spirit's communications breakdown by deleting thousands of files that were clogging up its computer memory. Meanwhile Opportunity will use its robotic arm to examine soil in the crater it landed in.
