A 19-year-old is due in court today charged with murder after a man was shot dead in south London, the Metropolitan Police said.

Sadiq Adebiyi, 25, was killed on the pavement near Stockwell Tube station.

The victim, who lived in the area, was standing in Clapham Road when he was gunned down as a dark-coloured motorcycle carrying two men approached him.

Yiana Ridley-Faux, of the CPS, said: "I have authorised the Metropolitan Police to charge Tadzingwa Philip Gambiza with one count of murder.
"I have also authorised the police to charge him with an additional charge of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life."

Gambiza will appear at Camberwell Green Magistrates' Court in south London today, the Met police said.

Scotland Yard said a passing police van followed the motorbike into the Patmore estate in Battersea.

They believe one suspect got off the motorbike somewhere in the estate after Tuesday's shooting but the 19-year-old rider was arrested.
A second man, 21, was arrested in Battersea yesterday morning.

Det Ch Insp Neil Hutchison said: "I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward and speak to the police.

"I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the motorcycle travelling at high speed towards the Battersea area."

:: Detectives stressed that witnesses will be protected and asked anyone with information to call the incident room on 020 8247 4553 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
