Man charged with murder of his family

A 36-year-old man will appear in court today charged with the murders of his wife and their three young children.

Rahan Arshad is accused of killing his wife Uzma Rahan, 32, and their sons Adam, 11, and Abbas, 8, and daughter Henna, 6, whose bodies were found at their home in Cheadle Hulme, Stockport, Greater Manchester on August 20

He will appear before magistrates at Stockport.

Arshad was arrested on Friday at Heathrow airport on his return from Bangkok, Thailand.

He left the country about four weeks ago at about the time his family were murdered.

He was detained by Thai police at the Padang Basar checkpoint in southern Thailand while trying to renew his visa by re-entering the country.

Mrs Rahan, who was from Pakistan, and her children all died from head injuries, post mortems revealed.
