12 April 2012

A magistrate has been found guilty of fraud by abuse of trust.

Dawn Drabwell, 50, from Gravesend, paid off more than £2,000 of personal debts using a cricket club's cheque book while she was sitting as a magistrate in the North Kent circuit.

Drabwell was treasurer of the cricket club near Gravesend between February and December 2009. She repaid a total of £2,400 in cash.

At Southwark crown court yesterday she was sentenced to 18 weeks' jail suspended for two years and prohibited from holding any financial position of trust with any voluntary organisation for two years.
