'Let the Navy sink Somali pirates'

Royal Navy warships should be allowed to sink Somali pirates who seize British shipping, former defence minister John Spellar urged today.

The task force can only take action against pirates caught in the process of taking a ship.

A Greek oil tanker was seized last night off the coast of Oman.
