Leslie in 3am bust-up

Swearing: John Leslie and Abi Titmuss were said to have yelled at each other

Police were called to the home of former TV presenter John Leslie after neighbours reported a furious late-night row, it emerged today.

Days earlier, neighbours witnessed another argument which ended with Leslie's girlfriend Abi Titmuss being locked out of the house and left sobbing at the front gate.

The two rows came a month after Leslie was dramatically cleared in court of sex allegations as his 27-year-old girlfriend stood loyally by him.

Scotland Yard said police had been called to the £1.5 million house in East Sheen at 3.23am last Wednesday after neighbours complained about the noise coming from the address.

A Yard spokesman said: "Police attended and established that the occupants of the address had just returned home after an evening out. There were no offences and no police action was taken."

Hours earlier, Miss Titmuss had been photographed with girlfriends during a night out on the town. The nurse visited the Wellington Club in Knightsbridge before going on to the Funky Buddha, the Mayfair venue launched last year by Jade Jagger.

Neighbours said Leslie had also been out but was at home with friends listening to music when Miss Titmuss returned. One neighbour said the music had woken them at about 1am. "Then a bit later we heard more shouting."

"I could hear Leslie shouting and screaming. I thought he must be on the phone because I could only hear his voice. But my boyfriend said, 'No, no you can hear her as well'.

"Abi was being much quieter, she definitely wasn't shouting like on Sunday. This happened around 2am and was really annoying. We had had enough so decided to ring the police at 3am."

When the police arrived Leslie went to the door to apologise.

Three nights earlier there was a bigger argument at the house which ended with Miss Titmuss being locked out and begging to be allowed back in.

One neighbour said it was a hot night and windows were open. She said: "They were ranting, yelling and crying. It was all very hysterical. They were swearing at each other."

People who heard the argument, which went on for three hours, said Leslie did not sound drunk.

In a recent interview with the Daily Express, Miss Titmuss said she had been left bitter about the allegations against the TV presenter.

She said: "I thought I'd come out feeling jubilant and vindicated. Instead there was a sour feeling. I cannot celebrate the fact my boyfriend has been acquitted of charges he should never have faced."

She also said there was no pressure for the couple to marry. "I couldn't stand to think John felt no choice."

Details of the disturbances came as it emerged that Leslie had been thrown out of a theatre at the Edinburgh Festival, accused of drunken and abusive behaviour.

Members of the audience said he was part of a group of about 10 people swearing and heckling a comedian.

"They were asked to leave because they were disrupting the show," said venue manager Ed Bartram.
