League 'confident' on ITVD cash

THE Football League is poised to escalate the war of words with ITV Digital by accusing it of overstating the financial crisis which supposedly threatens the venture with imminent closure.

'The High Court forced disclosure of documents which give us confidence they are not going to run out of cash as quickly as has been suggested,' said a source.

ITV Digital, put into administration by parents Carlton and Granada, claims it will run out of cash this week unless the football clubs accept a reduced offer for the TV rights to their games.

Some 1.2m digital TV customers will have their service cut off unless a solution is found.
