Simon le Bon and his old bandmates used to enter Duran Duran lookalike contests.

The singer, 45, said the group would turn up at a Birmingham working men's club they hired for the evening.

'We'd all put our 1980s mullet wigs on and big shoulder pads suits and enter Duran Duran competitions - and win,' he added.

The band, which notched up top-ten hits with The Reflex, Rio and Notorious, has reformed and embarked on a world tour. 'We get a bit more sleep in these days -but not much,' Le Bon told Virgin Radio.
