Lawyer's shock at spying

A lawyer who represented Max Clifford and sports agents Sky Andrews against News International told today how she was shocked to learn she was being spied on by the company.

Charlotte Harris, a partner at Mishcon de Reya who was acting for phone-hacking victims, said she felt violated after learning her family had been under surveillance.

The mother of two, pictured, said she was dumbfounded that Tom Crone, News International's head of legal affairs, had "ordered" surveillance. Ms Harris told the Leveson Inquiry on press standards: "There's no wrongdoing or confidential information being passed on my part.

It's a little bit disconcerting to be sitting next to apparently eminent lawyers in court and to find out they had ordered surveillance on you."
