Last hope for death row Briton

James Langton12 April 2012

A panel of four men and a woman will decide today if death row Briton Tracy Housel will be executed tomorrow.

The parole and pardons board in Georgia is to hear a last appeal from Housel's lawyers before the sentence of death by lethal injection is carried out at midnight, British time, tomorrow.

Housel, who claims joint British and American citizenship because he was born in Bermuda, has spent 16 years on death row for the rape and murder of a woman he picked up in a bar.

He is the chief suspect in two other murders and rape. He claims he did not know what he was doing because of a medical condition.
