KPMG to cut 700 jobs in UK

12 April 2012

ACCOUNTANCY firm KPMG is cutting 700 jobs in the UK in response to the downturn in market conditions. The group said the cuts would be made across the UK, where it has 24 offices, and would affect all functions in the firm.

It said it was also cutting 62 jobs in its associated law firm KLegal - of which 42 would go in London and 20 in offices in Glasgow and Edinburgh.

The group, which revealed the cuts on its website, said it was committed to a 'full consultation process with elected employee representatives'.

It said it would offer voluntary redundancies and internal deployment where possible, and would help those affected by compulsory redundancy find new opportunities outside the firm.

KPMG said it expected the process to be complete by mid-September.
