Khan denies dangerous driving

13 April 2012

Olympic silver medallist Amir Khan appeared in court today accused of dangerous driving. Khan, 19, of Lostock, near Bolton, denies hitting a pedestrian in his BMW, breaking the man's leg.

Khan, wearing a T-shirt and jeans, spoke only once to confirm his name and address. In a brief hearing at Bolton Magistrates' Court, the case was committed for trial at Bolton Crown Court.

The boxer was arrested in June after an incident in Bradshawgate, Bolton town centre, on the evening of March 2. The case was adjourned until November 3 for a plea management hearing.

The youngster shot to fame at the 2004 Olympics when he won a silver medal at lightweight. Since turning professional Khan has won all of his nine fights.
