Jews set up emergency text service after attacks

Jewish people in London have set up an emergency text message service after a recent spate of anti-Semitic attacks.

Police are hunting a gang after eight attacks on Jewish men in Stamford Hill. In one incident an 18-yearold was punched in the face and last month alone there were four attacks.

Detectives said all the victims were orthodox Jews. They said the gang were seen driving a Green VW Golf possibly with the number plate M947 GPP.

Now Jewish people have formed community protection networks that people in danger can contact via text message.

David Berger, a sales representative from Stamford Hill, said: "Within a second or two, we can have 20 or 30 people on the scene after an incident."

Police have described the gang behind the attacks as a group of black and Asian men.
