Jeep recall in steering alert

More than 7,000 Jeep Cherokees are being recalled because of a potential steering problem.

Manufacturer Chrysler said water could enter front suspension components, causing them to corrode and come undone.

It said that, in severe cases, this could lead to a loss of steering control. Owners are being contactedand requested to take their Jeeps to authorised Chrysler repairers to have new protective shields fitted if necessary.

Only 2002 and 2003 Cherokees are affected.
