Jamie Oliver's new dish

12 April 2012

TV chef Jamie Oliver was getting his teeth into fatherhood tonight after wife Jules gave birth to a baby girl.

Baby Poppy Honey was born at 3.20pm today and hit the scales at 7lb 14oz, four days after she was due.

A spokesman for the host of BBC2's Naked Chef cookery show said they were "delighted" with their new addition and added: "All concerned are doing well."

Jules is understood to have had the baby in hospital although no further details about the birth were being announced today.

The couple, married in 2000, said they wanted to thank the doctors, midwives and nursing staff who helped with the birth.

Oliver is currently setting up a new restaurant in London for which he will be training up the staff.

He is planning to make a TV series about the new venture, called Oliver's Army, but last month the BBC broke off negotiations due to his commercial interests. He has a multi-million pound deal with Sainsbury's.
