Jail for gangland killing

13 April 2012

A property dealer was jailed for 10 years today for his part in the execution of two men during a gangland vendetta.

Glen O'Brien, 34, rented properties in Peckham, south east London. One was used as offices from which he ran a property business.

The victims were lured to the offices, hooded, trussed up and murdered.
O'Brien and a second man, Linval Edwards were acquitted of murdering the two men but convicted of their manslaughter at an earlier hearing at the Old Bailey. Sentence was adjourned until today.

Edwards, of no fixed address was also jailed for ten years and a further three years to run consecutively for a firearms offence.

The gunman in the execution, Courtney Palmer, 23, from New Cross, south east London is serving two life sentences for the double murder on June 22 last year.
A jury had found him guilty after spending 18 days deliberating their verdicts. All three men had denied murder.

The victims, Ainsley Barrington, 34, and his friend Leroy McKain, 21, were shot through the head after being hooded and bound and tortured.

McKain died after three bullets from a Mach Ten were fired into his brain. Barrington, a former friend of Palmer, died from a single .45 pistol shot.

The reason why they were killed remains a mystery but police believe that Mr Barrington was a former Yardie boss - known as a "Don" - from Jamaica.
