Israel ex-president loses rape appeal

The former president of Israel, Moshe Katsav, was today told he must serve seven years in prison for rape and other sex crimes after the supreme court in Jerusalem rejected his appeal.

Katsav, 65, was convicted last December of raping a former employee when he was a cabinet minister and of sexually harassing two women during his term as president from 2000 to 2007.
