Interest rate frozen again

THE Bank of England today bowed to expectations and kept interest rates at 4% for the sixth month in a row.

The decision by the Bank's monetary policy committee had been widely predicted by City economists. In April, several pundits said they expected the Budget to trigger an increase this time round. But cleary the bank committee has taken the view that the Chancellor's measures pose no short-term threat to counter-inflation policies.
