Inquiry into dinghy deaths tragedy
An inquiry is under way today into how two British parents drowned when a rubber dinghy capsized in rough seas off Cyprus.
Peter and Alison Rainey, from Dollar, near Stirling, died at Paphos, leaving their two children orphans.
Mrs Rainey, 41, and son Callum, nine, had taken the dinghy out to sea and Falklands veteran Mr Rainey, 49, tried to rescue them when it overturned 100 metres from the beach.
Callum survived and is today in "severe shock" in hospital. His seven-year-old sister Catriona was not in the dinghy and is being looked after by a family who were holidaying with the Raineys.
