Informa and T&F in £1bn link-up

TWO of Britain's largest business publishers are to merge to form a company worth more than £1.1bn.

Lloyd's List publisher Informa, which is worth more than £560m, and Taylor & Francis, which publishes scientific books and journals and is valued at £480m, are to join forces in a nil-premium merger giving the former 51% of the equity and the latter 49%.

The merged company, to be called T&F Informa, was today predicting annual cost savings of at least £4.6m by the start of next year. Both companies today announced a strong upturn in results for 2003.
