Prince William’s close friend Guy Pelly has scotched rumours that he is to be a godfather to Prince George.

Speculation has been growing since the baby boy’s birth in July that Mr Pelly, right, would be one of a reported six godparents.

Nightclub entrepreneur Pelly, 31, said: “People have been coming up to me and shaking my hand offering their congratulations.

“They have got it all wrong. I spoke to William about it and he confirmed I am not going to be one.”

But he insisted that the decision had “nothing to do with me being a party animal”.
