I've left you my money, honey

13 April 2012

The comic actor best known as the Honey Monster's long-suffering 'mummy' in the Seventies Sugar Puff commercials has left £1million in his will to his partner.

Henry McGee, who was also famous for being Benny Hill's straight man, left his entire fortune to his partner of more than 30 years, Elizabeth King. McGee died in January last year at the age of 76 after battling Alzheimer's disease.

He left Miss King, who is an actress, his three-bedroom home in Fulham, West London, proceeds from an endowment policy and his royalties from film and television appearances. A former neighbour described the couple as 'devoted to each other'.

McGee was born in Kensington, London, and had to abandon plans to become a doctor at the age of 17 when his father died. He was a hugely popular figure among his fellow actors and more than 800 people attended his memorial service last year, including Sir Donald Sinden and June Whitfield.

In the Sugar Puffs advert, the monster would urge McGee to "Tell 'em about the honey, Mummy', to which he would reply wearily, "I'm not your mummy."

Miss King is said to now live overseas and could not be reached for comment.
