I'm too big to be stabbed: knife victim's girlfriend reveals claim of 6ft 2in 'gentle giant'

Victim: Elliot Guy, 27, was the father of a newborn baby

A new father was stabbed to death days after reassuring his girlfriend that he was too big to ever become a victim of the spiralling knife culture.

Burly Elliot Guy, 27, brushed aside warnings from Amy Smith, the mother of his three month old daughter,  that he should 'watch out' for himself when out in London.

The 6ft 2ins furniture maker told her: 'Who's going to stab me? I'm big, people would be afraid. That's never going to happen'.

Less than a week later Mr Guy, who was described as a 'gentle giant',  was knifed at a party in Tufnell Park, North London.

He staggered 200 yards to a busy nightclub in Dartmouth Park, where bouncers tried desperately to staunch the bleeding with clothes and a pillow, but he died in hospital in the early hours of Saturday.

Miss Smith, who works as a regional director for Chesterton, a luxury property company, said her boyfriend's death showed that knife crime transcends age, race, and class.

She said: 'We're a typical middle-class family in England. This stuff isn't colour-related, it's just random. He was never caught up in gangland violence — he detests violence.

'He comes from a good family. I come from a good family. Towards the person who has done this, I don't feel anything.

'If it was one of Elliot's friends I would hate them, I would really hate them, because they knew the value of his life.

'They knew how much it was worth. But this man or woman — whoever it is that has done this — their life must be worthless.

'They must not value life at all, because they failed to understand that Elliot's life was so worthwhile.'

Mr Guy was born to an English mother and a Jamaican father, who died when he was young.

He was raised by his mother and three siblings in Tufnell Park, where he was seeing old friends on the night of his death, despite his girlfriends warning that it was rife with knife crime.

He had met Miss Smith six years ago and the couple lived for a while on a  farm in Devon where he completed a course in fine furniture-making  with internationally acclaimed furniture designer David Savage

They later settled to Ealing,  West London, and Miss Smith said he was overjoyed when she unexpectedly fell pregnant last year and doted on their daughter, Eleanor.

She said: 'He wanted to be a stay-at-home dad right from the beginning. He loved his little girl, he wouldn't be apart from her.

'He sang to her continually — and she responded to him. Her first smile was on Father's Day — she smiled right at him.'

Mr Guy was stabbed less than a mile from where 16-year-old schoolboy Ben Kinsella was killed three weeks ago.

He died on the same day that 18-year-old Frederick Moody was murdered — the 21st teenager to die violently on the streets of the capital this year.

Two men and a woman arrested in connection with Mr Guy's death have been bailed pending further inquiries.
