I'm just a drug dealer, says teen 'hitman'

Victim: Gulistan Subasi was shot dead on her doorstep in Hackney
12 April 2012

A 16-year-old boy accused of the contract killing of a young mother on her Hackney doorstep today bragged of earning thousands of pounds a day dealing drugs from his home.

The teenager, who was 15 when he allegedly shot dead 26-year-old Gulistan Subasi, claimed he had never held a gun in his life.

Jurors have heard he confessed to a friend that he had only been paid £200 of the promised £2,000 fee. Giving evidence at the Old Bailey, the youth admitted he was a cannabis dealer but accused a witness, Ryan Hatunga, of lying in revenge for being beaten up. The boy told the court: "I can make £200 a day staying in my house. I can make thousands. It's not very hard to make money."

The court heard that Ms Subasi's husband Serdar Ozbek, 28, arranged the killing after she threatened to take custody of their son. She was shot dead last March.

Ozbek, of Wood Green, Izak Billy, 22, of Kensal Green, Leigh Bryan, 25, of Hornsey, Paul Nicoloau, 28, of Tottenham, and the 16 year-old, from Willesden, all deny murder. The trial continues.
