HP earnings surge to £862m

HEWLETT-PACKARD boss Carly Fiorina has claimed last year's $19bn (£11.2bn) acquisition of Compaq Computer is paying off as the company posted fourth-quarter earnings ahead of estimates. For the three months to October, HP earned $862m compared with $390m in the year-ago period.
