Hong Kong lures 'Superwoman' Horlick

13 April 2012

CITY 'Superwoman' Nicola Horlick may move overseas. She is in talks with Australian insurance firm AMP about running one of their key fund management businesses.

This would involve a relocation to Hong Kong or Australia. Horlick, 42, has five children. She rose to fame in the 1990s for successfully balancing her high-flying career with the trials of motherhood.

She also nursed her daughter Georgina, who died from leukaemia in 1998.

After 20 years in the City, Horlick is keen for another challenge. She is one of several candidates that AMP is interviewing to run their Australian and Asian fund management arm.

It is understood that she has not yet been told whether she will be given the job. She is due to start a new role as special adviser to SGAM's chief executive Philippe Collas this month, but some think her talents would be better used in a more specific fund management role.

Previously, Horlick was in charge of SG's UK fund management business. She has been locked into the firm with £6m golden handcuffs, but the final payout is thought to be due by next June.
