Holiday Britons left baby on landing

A British couple were appearing in court today on the Costa del Sol accused of abandoning their baby son.

Nicolas John Brown, 33, and Nicola Denise Wren told police they had had a "blazing row" after returning from a night out.

Brown reportedly told investigators that he put the child outside on the landing after the argument erupted. The couple then fell asleep forgetting about the child. Both admitted that they had been drinking heavily. The baby, aged about eight weeks, was found at 3am yesterday by a Spanish holidaymaker in the block where they were staying. The police were called and the child taken to hospital.

The judge could order that the boy remains in care until the couple are due to return home.
