Hip hop's Dr Dre to sell headphones at pop-up shop

New venture: Dr Dre will be selling headphones in a Shoreditch pop up shop.

Rapper and music producer Dr Dre is to launch a new career - as a London shopkeeper.

The US star is planning a pop-up shop in Shoreditch to sell his range of headphones. Beats by Dre features designs by Lady Gaga, Sean "Diddy" Combs and Justin Bieber.

The brand is popular with footballers and celebrities. Dre's move follows a promotion party at the Roundhouse in Camden that attracted Will I. Am, Cheryl Cole and Gaga. The store, expected to open before Christmas, is to let customers listen to headphones before buying. "It's going to be about experiencing Beats the way you should," said company co-founder Jimmy Iovine.

Dre is was a member of gangsta rap group NWA, who recorded seminal 1988 album Straight Outta Compton.
